C in HS Math!!!

Hi everyone. I had a C in my calculus class in junior year and i was dealing with cyber bullying issues and that class was just not my priority at the time, the grade just slipped. In addition to that i had a horrible teacher, but I’m pretty sure that statement won’t fix anything. The problem is, i want to do Information Technology and any science field needs strong math skills as I’ve heard. I really don’t know what to do.

If i take the calculus class at a community college and get a good grade, will I be able to them I can do this class?? Are there any other options I can choose to save my education at this point.

I am applying to uc irvince, ucsb, ucsd, davis, and cal poly slo to name a few. I am really interested in programming and science field and I really dont this to hold me down.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Considering the minimum math requirements for UC admissions are “elementary algebra, geometry and intermediate algebra”, I don’t think one C in calculus is going to ruin your chances.

You should also check if each school recomends subject tests for your area, as many of them do for STEM fields. http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/freshman/minimum-requirements/examination-requirement/sat-subject-tests.html

@sophie9999 But won’t having a C in my report card show them i can’t handle regular math and decrease my chances of getting into these colleges. I though doing calc at a community college would be like me redeeming myself

@ConfusedKid1 Well if you’re worried about them doubting your abilities, then take the SAT Subject test for math 2. Or just show through other tests like SAT or ACT that you are actually good at math. Also you could take the AP test for Calc.

thank you so much @sophie9999 ! those are all great ideas I will definitely try!
