C of C v. UVA

I am currently a Sophomore and have been accepted as a transfer to the College of Charleston and University of Virginia. I am completely torn. Here is my list of pros and cons:

UVA Pros:
In-state tuition (will have no debt)
Live at home (no rent)
Great program (Environmental Science)
Have a couple of acquaintances in town

UVA cons:
Not sure I will fit in at UVA
Large classes
Location (I like Charlottesville, but am not crazy about moving back there)

CofC Pros:
Location (I love Charleston!)
Small classes
Good program (not as good at UVA’s; geology major with a concentration in Environmental Geology)
Two best friends are there; one will become my roommate

CofC cons:
Expensive (I will be 20k in debt - although I have a plan to pay it off immediately after (saving and paid internships))
Will have to work in order to pay for some living expenses

Any guidance?

uva. closer to home, cheaper, and great school

You will be sorry if you do not pick UVa. It is much, much better, not to mention the cost.

Fit is overrated - you’re only talking about 2 more years.

The above advice is completely accurate.

UVa is leaps and bounds above CofC academically and if it’s cheaper, it’s the obvious choice. I would definitely pick UVa over CofC.

UVA is one of the very top public colleges in the nation and very historic. You are very lucky to get in there and shouldn’t think twice.
