<p>Is anyone aware of any scholarships for C students?</p>
<p>In most cases,scholarships are awarded for academic excellence. In most cases, a C average would not be considered academic excellence. </p>
<p>Do you have a special interest or skill that you do excel,at? Perhaps there are some small scholarships for someone in that area.</p>
<p>Research liberal arts colleges. Some offer leadership, community service, and/or performing or studio art scholarships which can be substantial ($12K/year and renewable). Local scholarships are more likely to be one-time deals. Most involve writing essays and/or submitting a portfolio or tape and some require an interview. If it is a <em>C</em> average, it is pushing the envelope unless there are countervailing equities, but these type of scholarships are definitely within reach for B students.</p>
<p>If a school were to award scholarships to C students, the question would be…who do they NOT award them to?</p>
<p>The concept behind awarding scholarships is to award students whose stats/abilities are significantly better than the rest of the student body.</p>
<p>There may be some small overpriced not-very-selective colleges that are desperate for students and give everyone a scholarship to make it look like a better deal (but then why don’t they just lower the list price instead?). But they may be few and far between, and a C student may not have much choice to begin with in terms of just admission, much less scholarships.</p>
<p>Starting at community college and then transferring as a junior to a four year school may be a good way for a C student in high school to upgrade his/her college choices, as a good record in community college can wash away the mediocre high school record.</p>
<p>A student with a C average in high school may need to take some developmental courses before moving on to the regular curriculum. Community colleges are really good at that kind of stuff.</p>

<p>lol…yes there are some of those schools. They tend to be small over-priced privates that even with a “discount” they’re still higher than an instate school. They’re desperate for warm bodies in seats.</p>
<p>Why do they do this? Because they know that there are some folks out there that are so flattered that they were given a “scholarship” that they’ll choose that school (and may even pay MORE! at that school) simply to take “advantage” of the scholarship. “I can’t turn down that nice scholarship!”</p>
<p>There was a parent two years ago that was desperate to find “scholarships” for her ACT 20 student. She was able to find a few tiny privates who must be giving “merit” to every student. But, truthfully, these awards were probably just fake discounts at over-priced schools.</p>
<p>Are they worth paying the balance of the cost after the fake discount? Who knows.</p>
