It doesn’t hurt to apply.

Although it will be an excellent demonstration of your leadership abilities that you have founded or cofounded a few clubs- I would shy away from discussing the politics of the clubs.

y?..columbia loves politics…dont they?..transfer…def apply…

all i talked about in my interview was politics, and i got in

Bush is the devil

Politics can be useful up to a point, but the colleges want to hear your voice, not regurgitated political opinions. That said, you have a decent chance of getting in with solid scores and good ECs.

You should definitely apply. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. :)

They don’t care what your politics are. I worked on the Bush campaign and they let me in.

Show your interest in politics and explain why you are interested in. Mention your volunteering and stuff. Don’t talk about what your political beliefs are though, unless your mentioning them is something which occurs naturally in an essay or something. Harvard and Princeton like political people and admit alot of those. Columbia college Brown also like politically active people, I don’t really know about Penn.

Hey COOL you’re a JSAer from California??? Me TOO!! Are you from NorcaL or SocaL? Yeah about politics…I talked about activism and politics at my interview. I’m asian, and I applied from California…and I’m a girl with mediocre (not mediocre…ust average with regards to everyone else applying to Columbia) stats which basically screws me over. I made sure to emphasize political science and activism. Columbia apparently has a history of gay activism because it was the first university with a Gay Straight Alliance type group and my interviewer was queer so my activism was my selling point. My interviewer told me that only 15 out of the 2000 applicants talked about gay and lesbian activism or activity on their apps…and with Columbia’s history I knew that put me over. If you are passionate about something…take the risk…if they dun like you you shuldn’t like them either.

they should have affirmative action for conservatives at Columbia. I feel they’re sorely lacking. :)
