CA Res attending out of state schools applied to UCSD?

Anyone fit that category on here? Stats? Still pending? Accepted?

How the **** did you manage that?

Yep. CA res, attended a private 4 yr on the east coast for 2 yrs. Still pending…

what are you talking about grimes?

its kind of frustrating to see cc kids with 3.0’s get in and see us probably get rejected with much higher gpas from much harder schools than cc’s

I’m curious as to how you went out of state, still have in-state residency and now you’re trying to transfer back in-state.

And why would you pay 10x more to go to a four year university only to transfer out two years later anyways? Why not just go to a CC right off the bat?

well obviously it was a mistake for me to go out of state, and i never worked so i retained my CA residency, so now i’m trying to come back hopefully.

i didn’t go to cc mainly because of family pressure and crap like that

I thought you have to physically present in the state to retain residency, I can be wrong

boom15: I attended a private university OOS until everything went to ****s in my family, so I’ll be attending a CC soon. ): Probably not relevant to your situation though…

Yep, CA resident my entire life, attended an Ivy League on the East coast for 2 years, applied to UCSD, still pending! 3.4 ish GPA. It is unfortunate that it’s probably easier to get a higher GPA from a CC.

Wait…you have a 3.4 at an Ivy and you want to leave? What Ivy and why do you want to leave (if its personal, feel free not to answer)?

I partially fit into this category. I’m a CA resident, grew up in CA and graduated from a CA high school.

I attended an out of state private university for my 1st year (F 2008 - SP 2009), “achieving” a 2.92 GPA.

Then at the end of last year (May 2009) I decided I didn’t want to stay there, so I moved back to California and decided to enroll at a CC for a year (F 2009 - SP 2010). I notched a 3.77 GPA first semester, and this semester hopefully a 4.0. (Melodie is indeed right, there is so much of a difference in difficult between CC and 4-year! And I called UCSD and they treat the GPA from both CC and private 4-years as if there’s no difference!)

I went to a four-year private university my first semester (I went home due to a family situation and because I didn’t want to rack up a bunch of loans for G.E.). I worked hard and got a 4.0 after taking statistics, two classes for my major and then a fourth class. When I transferred into a community college I found that my classes were just as challenging, not easier. But that’s just my experience…

The one thing that I don’t like is that you don’t really know if each campus is going to actually give you credit for classes from a 4-year.
