I am looking for feedback from cablevision customers who have switched to verizon. Are you happy with the services? and…If you signed up with verizon under a promotion package has the billing reflected the promotion price or it is much higher than you expected.

I did the opposite – switched from Verizon to cablevision. I did not have the triple play combo though – just DSL and land line through Verizon. Constant problems with Verizon “high speed internet”. Constantly calling someone in India who patiently (for 3 hours) tells me to unplug my modem, then unplug the router, then plug the modem back in again (you get the idea). My Verizon internet was down at least 1x/month. My husband works from home which made it a nightmare.

With Cablevision internet, you get a local rep instantly who can actually help you over the phone. If they can’t, they send someone to your house to fix it. We have only been down 1x in the past 8 months and that was because of a big storm that knocked out everyone.

If you still want Verizon, ask about “double play” (internet and TV). I think they are now offering something if you don’t want/need the land line piece.

Smileygirl–we went from DirecTV to Verizon fios triple play (we had Verizon DSL and phone already, and the DTV was billed with them). We have had zero problems with any of the services so far (it’s been about eight months, maybe.) The fios really is as lightning fast as advertised. The price has been as advertised, too, no bait and switch. It cut about 40/50 dollars a month off our overall bill, and we’ll have the deal for two years in total. for us, it was a great move.

I have Cablevision, but have looked at FIOS as an altrenative. It’s very attractive, especially because Cable won’t give me the “triple play” because I already have 2 services of theirs. You can only get the triple play if it means more $$$ for them, so if you have internet and cable tv, you can’t add voice and pay less. Anyway, the key differentiators to me were that Verizon requires a commitment and Cablevision is month-to-month, and losing News 12. The rest are all in Verizon’s favor, IMO.

We did the same as garland but we had FIOS internet already. We have the triple play, and I never got India when I called for 2 small glitches in the installation.

One was my fault for not understanding the myriad of things connected and how the new TV worked. Very patneint US based rep walked me through everything and was going to order new parts when we discovered it was my fault
The other was theirs with the voice mail set up. The first time I used the email chat and that did not work well. Second time I called and got US based rep right away who took care of it immediately.

We like the speed and features but we also got the top speed package. My Verizon package is month to month. The deals are for 12 months and it is really clear on the invoice: fees, minus packages and promotions. .
