How and when are Companies chosen? Have the companies already been made and on R-day I will be placed in a predetermined Company? Or do they issue you a company after Re-orgy week? Are companies determined by physical performance or wps?

"on R-day I will be placed in a predetermined Company? "
Yes, but remember that apart from the cadre, there are only plebes during Beast so the structure is different.

“Or do they issue you a company after Re-orgy week?”
At the beginning of re-orgy week (after the march back) new cadets are integrated into the Corps and assigned to their permanent company. There is some shuffling that goes on especially with corps squad athletes. I believe they tend to put athletes who play the same sport together during Beast as it makes it easier for them to train together, but they are spread throughout the Corps after Beast.

“Are companies determined by physical performance or wps?”
Each company has a mix of “athletes”, “scholars” and “leaders”.

The class of 2010 has been scrambled twice since Re-orgy week. They were scrambled for CFT and again at the beginning of Yuk year. This is not the norm, but is at the discretion of the administration.

I’m sure one of the cadets can give you more info.

Yea, it works like this:

In beast, there are 8 companies (A-H) with 4 platoons in each.

Each platoon represents the new plebe class for that particular company.

For example, if you were in A company, 4th platoon, then your academic year company would be A-4.

If you are a corps squad athlete, you will be grouped with your fellow recruits

For example, this year D company had all Men’s swimming recruits and men’s soccer recruits during beast. Those people were then “scrambled” into different companies for academic year.

So, if the athletes are put together during beast because of training, does that mean they will hold practices during beast? I figured they’d go 6 weeks without workouts (not good), so that’s good to hear!

There is time regularly set aside during beast for athletic activities for everyone. I know that during that time, the teams with fall sports get their athletes together to practice. Generally this is also the time that "walk-ons’’ get to try out, too. I’m not sure what season diving is, or if the other seasons sports also practice.

I’d hardly say “mass athletics” was “regular” because you dont start until midway and then you go maybe once or twice a week after that.

All corps squad teams practice during beast but special teams (Football and soccer, etc.) who have early seasons will leave beast early.

You get scrambled into a new company before and after Buckner, but you stay in the same company your whole plebe year once Beast is over with.

Except for Beast and Buckner some Cadets have never been scrambled. My Cadet , a COW, has remained within the same company since the start of Plebe year.

That’s pretty rare.

Not really…that is the norm among his friends outside of the company.

The classes of 2008 and 2009 have never been scrambled. I think scrambling is becoming the trend, though, as 2010 was scrambled and my class (2011) will be too.

Class of 2009 (this year’s cows) was not scrambled.

Yep–daughter has been in the same company since plebe year.

My bad, I’m an idiot and didn’t see COW in capital letters.

Bottom line, though, is the class of 2012 will get scrambled.

Thats not necessarily true seeming as we’ll be getting a new comm soon and it took them a whole semester to confirm that we were scrambling.

So chances are, I already have a company?

Probably, unless they assign companies after the class roster has been finalized.

I doubt there are any company assignments for the incoming class until after May 1st, when candidates must reply with their decision to accept the appointment offer.
