Cal and UC Davis Odds

Hi everyone. I’m currently a high school sophomore. I would like to ask your opinion whether I’m having a good chance to get into either cal or davis. UC Berkeley is my dream school but I would take uc davis as a backup. I would like to know so I can prepare myself from now on.

About me:
born and raised in a country in Asia
English is not my first language, I have been learning it 4-5 years now.
Speak 4 languages
moved to america by myself (live with relatives) August 2014 when I started my freshman year
very good at math
attending a high school in a small city in the midwest
GPA of 4.0 so far. Taking a few honors. Planing to take 4-5 APs junior and senior year
took ACT Aspire, scored a 26 (I think I can increase some more points by the time I take the real one)
Join few clubs
I don’t play sports though

Question: Do I have to take both ACT and SAT? Where I live, they tend to care about the ACT.

Thank you in advance!

You are on the right track but there is no way to determine your chances until the end of Junior year. You need to calculate your UC GPA. http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
You can take the ACT or SAT. The schools will accept either test. You should also look at taking some SAT subject tests depending upon your intended major. You want to aim for an ACT of 32+ for UCB and 30+ for UCD to be competitive. Also consider some of the other UC’s and competitive Cal states to complete your college list.

Good luck

Also remember that living in the midwest is not California. You would be expected to pay full fees as an OOS resident of $55K per year.

Yeah I know that. Money is not the problem but I need to somehow find the way to manage it well thanks for your concern!
