Cal grant for UC

So I got accepted to UCLA. I’m married. our total income is like 60K.
I called Cal grant and they said not everyone would get it because they only give to 11000 students and 10x of that applied! I know a lot of students who makes nothing already got Cal Grant. Does this mean I might not get it??? I thought according to the blue and gold plan, everyone would have tuition covered!!!
help help!!

My EFC is 0, under B&G and I didn’t get the Cal Grant.

Calm yourself, lol. If you don’t get the Cal Grant, UCLA will give you a scholarship with the same amount.

r u sure???

ucla will work it out.

would you guys explain little more?? I dont know waht to do…

If you’re under the blue and gold plan, you should be fine going to UCLA. However, if you’re skeptical, you might want to call the financial aid office with your question. Do you have any acceptances from any Cal States, just in case?

Unless you have dependents, you don’t qualify for Cal Grant. Your income is too high for a married independent with no dependents. If you have dependents, that is a different story, though.

With under $60k, you should still qualify for Blue&Gold promise which will ensure your systemwide fees will be covered with any combination of grants and/or scholarships as long as you filed your GPA Verification form and your FAFSA before March 2.

Also, there are two types of Cal Grant (outside of the whole A, B, and C mess): entitlement and competitive. The former does not have a formal cap (it is an entitlement). The competitive is limited to 22,500 new awards per year. The only other limited Cal Grant is the one for CCC students and this is for the September 2 deadline.
