Is it true that Cal accepts students based on their personal statements. Its my dream school but the thing is I only have a 3.8 and a horiible SAT score. However, I am a California resident. So is it true?
EC’s and essays along with academics are all considered in their application review. If you have some amazing EC’s and essays, it could compensate for a less than stellar GPA/Test score which makes this a Holistic review. As always, since UCB is extremely competitive, you need to have some definite Safeties and Matches on your college list. Apply and hope for the best.

No, not yet. I plan on doing so before senior year before applications are due.
