Cal Poly Class of 2022 Thread

Me too!!

No sorry I’m not exactly sure what that is. I am I just relieved he got in because it’s hard s first choice. Good luck to you!!!

I have this theory that after last year’s fiasco, slo is playing it way safe this year, accepting far fewer applicants outright, esp in impacted majors like bus admin, engineering, and bio sci, and then piece mealing out admits as they gage acceptance responses. If the bulk of up front admits are complete, in three years I have never seen so few acceptances in impacted majors. I hope I’m wrong but if not, it may be an extra stressful month for some of us. 8-}

What happened last year?

@calpolyplzz ~4700 MCA

@nerdgirl97 they accepted wayyy too many applicants, like 32 kids from my school ended up going

@nerdgirl97 Too many people ended up accepting the offer then expected and so they had way too many people in the class.

has anyone gotten in for architecture in state?

@collegekid1000: See posts #1003 and #1077

Oh, ok. I wonder if they accepted more than usual, or their yield was higher than expected? Either way, I could see them maybe trying to be more careful this year, idk

Has anybody gotten accepted today? or was it all yesterday/last night?

@nerdgirl97 I believe the yield was higher than expected last year.

I don’t think Comp Sci majors have received acceptances yet. I think I read some people receiving acceptances today. @nerdgirl97

Admissions basically blew it last year. If you look at the numbers they projected and then what actually happened, it seems they were expecting somewhere around a 26% yield (which would be historically low), and got a 31% yield, just a bit above 2016, but still low compared to recent years before that. So it’s not that way more students than usual accepted, it’s that they freaked out over getting rid of ED and WAY over admitted. FWIW, UC Irvine also over enrolled last year, but in that case their yield actually did spike…they actually admitted fewer students than the year before, but more accepted. Admissions is a tricky business.
