Cal psych premed question

Do the biology pre reqs for psychology at cal satisfy the biology requirements for med school?

You would need to fulfill the entire Bio 1A/1AL & Bio 1B (also has L) for the bio portion of pre-med at Cal. Those also can be used as your required transferable Bio classes for Psych. At some CCs, this may be more than 2 classes for articulation.

For example, at my CC, the articulation for Bio 1A & 1B is actually comprised of 4 courses. Often, this becomes confusing since a year of Bio at your CC might only consist of a Cell Biology course and an Organism Biology course, yet Cal requires you take additional classes to fulfill THEIR idea of an introductory year. However, you would need to fulfill 1A & 1B for their 2 class Psych transfer requirement, so you would have to take the 4 classes anyway to satisfy that.

Other introductory Bio classes (like Bio 100) or Anatomy/Physiology classes won’t satisfy the year of Bio required for pre-med, though some Med programs might additionally suggest A&P.

Hope that helps.

Thank you! It turns out I am satisfying the bio requirements for med school here at CC according to assist
