Can anyone suggest some single unit courses for History Majors?
I do not want to take PE, and plan to sign up for three 4 unit classes.
Seems I will need one more unit to make it full-time at Cal?

Thanks in advance. Go Bears!

Hey Northbeach

I’m a history major here who usually takes Political Science 179 to get to that magic number of 13units. Its an easy class where you listen to 1 new speaker every week within the political sphere. We’ve had Robert Reich, Christine Pelosi, and Gavin Newsom before. Generally speaking its pretty entertaining and worthwhile. If that doesn’t suit your fancy you can take a “decal” to enjoy classes from Harry Potter to Salsa Dancing.

wow, thanks. that sounds fantastic. i will do my best to get enrolled in that. much relieved. it was one of those things that was really weighing on me for whatever reason. haha.

While “full time” is minimum of 13 units, remember that you need to average 15 units per semester to graduate in 8 semesters, unless you came in with lots of unduplicated AP or college credit.

yeah, i am coming in the the Maximum units and just need the minimum each semester, might even graduate early. thanks for looking out for me though! so thrilled to be getting into a good school. my CCC was weighing me down.

As an incoming transfer, you won’t be subject to the L&S unit ceiling until after four semesters (five if you have more than one major) and completion of of more than 130 units (136 units if you have more than one major). No more than 70 units from community colleges will be counted against the unit ceiling.

[Office of Undergraduate Advising: Unit Ceiling](http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/registration/unitceiling.html)

Because Berkeley fees do not vary by course load, you may want to take as many courses as you can handle during your four semesters at Berkeley (i.e. get the most out of your time and money).

i know it is amazing that we can take many classes for the same price. but that does not suit my disposition. i want good grades and a relaxed schedule. also want to concentrate on my thesis for my major because it is important to me and not just a school project. i am so excited! and will also be attending summer school each year. but did you guys notice that as of this year the evil congress took away our Summer pell grants. what losers. seriously, those people in washington should all be retired. thanks for the posts. i am really learning a lot on this website and UCBALUMNUS you are totally cool, because some kids love heavy school work loads and do very well. and maybe they can use some units towards a Graduate degree and same money there?

i always take the minimum units for full time. haha. also, i am older, and dudes the brain slows down—but age also manages to find some nifty shortcuts to make up a little for our laziness. go bears!

@ucbalumnus
are you a double major? that would be cool too.

No, did not double major.

thanks again brian, i just enrolled in poli sci 179. a great option thanks to your reply to my post.
