cal state with the most school spirit?

can anyone rank the cal states based on strength of school spirit/ community?

Good: Chico, Long Beach, Fresno, SLO, SDSU
Medium: Humboldt, Pomona, LA, Fullerton, Sacramento
Poor: Channel Islands, Stanislaus, San Bernardino, Northridge, San Jose, San Francisco, Sonoma, Monterey Bay, San Marcos
Very Poor: East Bay, Dominguez Hills

SDSU is the only school that can compare to the mid-tier UCs in terms of school spirit.

The ones with the best community are likely to be the most residential.
In terms of school spirit, only two come to mind: San Diego State (basketball) and Cal Poly SLO (soccer)

Community (just my opinion)

 1. Cal Maritime (highly specialized school)
 2. Humboldt State
 3. Cal Poly SLO
 4. Sonoma Sate
 5. San Diego State

Channel Islands has a good sense of community. Being a smaller school nestled in a beautiful canyon certainly helps.

I agree with Bubbles that Fresno has good school spirit. The people who live on or near campus (e.g., in the Greek system) have a lot of fun together.

Probably D1 schools like SDSU and Fresno State.

The following CSUs are in NCAA Division I:

CPSLO, CSUB, CSUF, CSUFULL, CSULB, CSUN, CSUS, SDSU, SJSU

Whether that means much in terms of school spirit is another matter.

“SDSU is the only school that can compare to the mid-tier UCs in terms of school spirit.”

Agreed, I think it’s in a class by itself.

Humboldt is very interesting; it’s the furthest thing from a rah-rah sports/Greek type of atmosphere, but it has a sense of place and a distinctive culture that I find unusual among public schools.

San Diego State, hands down.
