<p>S is at a private junior college and is looking to transfer for spring semester. He got off to a very rocky start freshman year, but GPA has been improving and he finally has a cumulative GPA of 2.0. However took two classes at community college this summer and GPA there 1.47 (7 credit hours). Got letters from 2 state Universities post application: One said did not meet criteria because of GPA below 2.0; another one stated could not make determination till final transcript from fall was in.

Is admissions giving equal weight to each GPA? I plugged the numbers in for the quality points, grades, and # credit hours for each course into a GPA calculator I found on the site for Iowa State University. Together, everything equals 2.09. When I plug in his midsemester grades, I get 2.14. S struggles with math and science but great in social sciences. </p>
<p>We toured a Catholic University yesterday which he liked very much; smaller, much personal attention. I am thinking they wouldn’t be as stringent.</p>
<p>Just wondering if anyone knows what their criteria is?</p>
