Calculating GPA for purposes of computing football Academic Index

Does anyone know whether colleges recalculate GPA in computing your AI?
A coach told me that I am missing being in a higher band by .2% using my high school’s computation of my GPA, which includes a C I got in middle school p as well as a B I got in HS culinary class. If any of these classes is excluded my GPA is high enough to put me in the higher band.
Does anyone know whether the college will include these in my GPA when computing my AI?

alloutforivy,

Truthfully, that would be a question for admissions or the coach. Ask them directly. Each Ivy or Admissions dept anywhere has their own way of doing things and calculating GPA. I know in my son’s case they calculated both core and overall GPA for the two Ivy’s he was most interested in. If you are being recruited as an athlete the coach (or academic liason) will tell you one way or another…and it may also depend on what sport you are being recruited for. Also, it may help to understand what level of athlete the coaches think you are. If a coach really wants you, and you have the academic numbers (higher band, lower band, whatever) regardless you may find yourself in a good position with either a core or overall GPA. Good luck.

Actually are you looking at NCAA schools?

If so, you need to look at this website

[NCAA Eligibility Center](http://web1.ncaa.org/ECWR2/NCAA_EMS/NCAA.jsp)

Your GPA will be recalculated as the NCAA only looks at specific courses. Additionally, there is an index, the higher your score on the SAT or ACT without writing, the lower the GPA required is.

Spend some time looking at the Clearinghouse website I listed above.

The NCAA eligibility rules and Ivy League AI are unrelated.
