Not applying, just curious, how are GPAs calculated for NON residents. Just came from UCs web site which says an A is the same as an A-? If that is true if I got all As (out of state) then I have an UW 4.0? Even if it is really a 3.7 since I got all A- supposedly? Doesn’ everyone who applies mostly once you get rid of A-? Aside from SATs how are distinctions made?
Also, if my school barely offers APs and no IBs, and UC does not give me credit for school honors classes (as an OOS) then will I be disadvantaged? Also if my goal is one of the better UCs, am I better off taking non honors classes (unless they are APs) and getting A-s as opposed to getting B+ in an honor class? Partially curious, partially wondering if I should have applied to UCB given that I have all As in one form or another and what to tell my little sister who is still in early high school
