Calculating SAT Scores

<p>does anyone know the exact math to calculating the scores…
like i know 1/4 is subtracted from the amount you got correct, so how do they get the triple digit number for each section from the double digit number of questions you got right.</p>

<p>well, they use a distribution curve, i think, but there is no “exact” math. it varies with percentile each sitting</p>

<p>Yeah, if you have the Blue Book then you will see the scaled score rages that correspond to each raw score.</p>

<p>Since the distribution curve varies depending on how easy the tests were, a particular raw score will not always give you the same scaled score.</p>

<p>Sometimes -1 will still give you an 800, whilst other times (if the test was easier) it might give you a 790 or 780. What I do is average out the score ranges that are given in the blue CB book.</p>
