Calculator that can be used for ALL math/science APs?

I’m taking AP Physics B next year, and I’ve heard a TI-84 will suffice. In the future though, I’ll be taking AP Chem, AP Calc AB/BC, and AP Stats. Will a TI-84 work for these classes as well? Or should I just get a TI-89? I want a calculator that will work/last me all 4 years of high school. Suggestions?

Nspire CX CAS

TI-84 will do the trick.

TI-83, 84, 89, NSpire (with or without CAS) are all acceptable for math/science AP’s that allow calculators.

Why phys b before chem?

^The sequence at my high school is Phys B > Chem > Bio.

84 will last you for the rest of your life, most likely. The advantages of having a computer algebra system (89/NSpire) are minimal for the science exams and statistics, and slightly present but still disregardable for calc. It’s not like the integrals they’re going to be throwing at you on the calculator section are especially tricky ones; those are saved for the non-calculator section.

If my opinion matters, I really, really hate working with the interfaces of the 89 and NSpire. I’m much quicker at using an 84, and that’s my calculator of preference, even when faced with the option of using the 89 or NSpire. I don’t think that a computer algebra system would be enough to save your ass on a science or math AP exam if you didn’t know your stuff. What I found my NSpire most useful for was checking my calc homework when I did it in AP Psych (which was pretty much every time I had psych…that class is a waste) since I didn’t have access to Wolframalpha during school. Haha.
