Calculators

Can we use them on the SSAT? If so, what kind (graphing, what levels, programming, etc.)…

I took it last year but I completely forgot protocol for the test. Can I program my graphing calculator? I’m learning Java but I’ve studied Visual BASIC so I would be able to create quick short cuts for math equations.

Thanks!

how can u use java to make short cut for math?

Sorry, the info regarding Java was extraneous. The TI - 8x however, do use Visual BASIC to create programs to solve an equation, I believe. For example, you can create an equation which solves the quadratic formula and displays you the two answers. While you can do that with a graph (and calc function 5) it will be quicker with certain algorithms. Also, it is impossible to know the answer as an “a+bi” result through the graphs, whereas with the algorithm I would be able to value a variable, x, as “a+bi”.

I don’t think calculators are allowed.
You don’t need it anyways…

I went through about 100 practice problems with mental but it would obviously be easier with calculators, so…

You are right, should be no problem.

You can’t use them, the SSAT is easy enough already

Don’t worry about it! You can’t use calculators, but the calculations are easy as 5+7

** No Calculators **
