i got only a 3 on the calculus BC ap, but they gave me a AB subgrade of 5. does the subgrade count?

As far as I know, no. The registrar policy states that only 4 or 5 is accepted for college credit

I think so… The Calculus AB Subscore is listed on the AP/IB Credit List.
[AP & IB Credit | Office of the Registrar | Rice University](http://registrar.rice.edu/students/ap_ib.aspx)

^^ in that case probably. Im not sure. merely speculating. apologies if i got it wrong

Yes you do get credit if you have a Calc AB subscore of a five (and a four if I’m not wrong). You will still get out of Calc I but not Calc II and you will get 3 credit hours.

thanks for the help guys

I got a 4 on Calc AB but do not feel prepared at all for anything beyond Calc I. My teacher was a first-year Calculus teacher and I feel like I missed a great deal of the important concepts.

Here’s my question:
I’m a Rice-Baylor student, so I don’t feel I need to take Calc to get into med school. I want to keep up my GPA and to be honest–I hate math. Do all premeds take Calc, even if they’re in Rice-Baylor? How much Calc should I take? Is Calc I manageable at Rice, and how does it compare to AP Calc AB?

calc 1 is pretty easy. its not a fast paced class and even non majors who are taking it for distribution found it simple. if you plan to take calc 2 and you dont like math, take 101 in college first
