California chancin'

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping you could evaluate my chances at some California schools: UC Berkeley, LA, San Diego, Irvine, Santa Barbara, and Stanford University and California Institute of Technology.

ive posted some stats here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/stanford-university/422480-i-tend-dislike-chance-threads-but.html</a>
but please reply in this thread :O)

thanks in advance!

i think your stats are definitely good enough to count admission to all UCs. as for stanford and caltech, i don’t really see you standing out from the rest of the crowd, though that doesn’t necessarily eliminate all chances of you getting in. your boeing internship is definitely a plus, and i think you have a better chance at caltech than at stanford. i’d say its a tossup… you’re definitely qualified!

really? better luck at caltech? that’s something i haven’t heard before … hm, okay, thanks!

I completely disagree with an0nym0us. I’d say in at ALL UCs but Stanford is probably not going to be nice… You don’t have any strong ECs and that is going to hurt A LOT at privates. GL!!!

wait - how exactly do you disagree with me? i said in at all UCs, and i dont think stanford is going to be nice. when i say that he’s qualified, i mean that he has the stats to fit in the pool, but not the extra advantage to set him apart from the others. but predicting caltech and stanford accurately is impossible - anything can happen :)

Oh shoot! I thought you said NOT IN at all UCs! I misread. MY BAD!!! :/

You should get into most of the UCs.

UCLA: high match
UC Berkeley: high match

Stanford: reach
Cal Tech: reach

Thanks folks :)

I am a bit worried about my senior grades though, I might get 2 or 3 B’s this semester and next…
