Can I move from California to Texas to be eligible for the CAP program, where I go to a different UT school for a year? How can I apply for CAP, or is it only if your UT Austin app doesnt get accepted? Thanks!

You don’t apply for CAP, they offer it to people who are rejected from the school

It would most likely be very hard and not worth it to get residency to qualify for CAP.

Why are you interested in UT Austin, with delayed entry through CAP, when you have excellent state universities in California for about $20K/year less (at in-state rates)?

If your stats aren’t high enough for direct admission to UT or to any UC you like, then another option would be to attend a local community college then transfer into a UC. CC-to-UC avoids the hassle and cost of trying to establish residency in another state.

It won’t work, I think you have to be living here for a certain amount of time. CAP is not offered to all those denied who are Texas residents, only some. If you apply to UT as a Texas resident and are denied, if your application is good, CAP is offered.
