Hi! I was wondering what my chances at the following colleges were:
- UW Madison
- GA Tech.
- University of Minnesota
- Stony Brook
- University of Connecticut
- Purdue
- Ohio State
- UMass Amherst
- Santa Clara University
- all the ucs(Berkeley, LA, SD, Davis, Irvine, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Riverside, Merced)
- Penn State
- San Jose State
- UW Seattle
- UIUC
I have 4 D’s on my record that I made up and got A’s in and they all came in sophomore year. In junior year, I got a 3.7.
Some factors are:
2200 SAT
780 SAT Math 2
700 SAT US History
4s on US History and Psychology AP tests
4 years band, marching band
4 years cross country, track
went to super competitive high school that doesn’t use class rank(average sat 2000)
strong upward grade trend(4.0 senior year so far)

When did you get Ds?

Sophomore year: honors precalc.(1), honors chem(2), honors english(1)

Our high school uses a semester system

I have a 3.27 uw and 3.42 w gpa

sat splits- 670 cr, 770 math, 760 writing

What’s your cumulative gpa and UC gpa?
UCLA/UCB/UCSD: reaches
UCM/UCR-safeties
UCI/UCD-low reaches
not sure about other UC schools…
UW seattle-match
GA tech-low reach?

Calculate your UC/CSU GPA: <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;
GPA will hurt your chances. If you can explain your low grades, then your chances may be better. GPA/SAT mismatch never looks good.

UCLA/UCB/UCSD: Reach
SCU/UCI/UCSB/UCD: Low Reach/High Match
UCSC: High Match
SJSU/UCM/UCR: Match

uc gpa comes out to 3.31

Also according to the uc website, I have guaranteed admission for a UC with a uc score of 280

@metalmonk28: The ELC guarantee is for UC Merced, not the UC of your choice.

Yes a UC pretty much means merced. So I don’t think merced is a match in that case…

Got accepted into Purdue University for Actuarial Science on 12/12/14!

Got accepted into UC Riverside for Statistics for the College of Natural and Agricultural sciences!
Got accepted into Ohio State for Actuarial Science for the College of Arts and Sciences
Got accepted last night to Stony Brook for Applied Math and Statistics for the College of Applied Sciences.
Congratulations!
Are you full pay or will costs be an issue at Ohio State and Stony Brook?
Costs would not be an issue for any of the schools!
What would your regard as my best option out of the 4 so far? I’m trying to become an actuary and osu and purdue are 42k per year while riverside is 34k per year and stony brook is 36k per year.
Im also vying for a 12k/year scholarship to ohio state
