California State University Class of 2029 Discussion Thread

If you inputted the 8th courses correctly based on the instructions, they should show up for 8th grade but under the 9th grade HS.

Perfect. thanks a lot . So even though these courses are high school level courses, they wont be counted towards CSU GPA ? If we did add them to 9th grade category, it would be counted towards the CSU GPA right ? Thats why had a doubt. Looks like we cannot add tag them to 9th grade. @Gumbymom

thanks

9th grade courses are not included in the GPA calculation for most CSUs. Only Cal Poly SLO includes 9th grade in its GPA calculation.

Sorry I missed answering the other question.

@tamagotchi is correct that Middle school grades and 9th grades are not included in the CSU GPA calculation or the UC GPA calculation. The exception is Cal Poly SLO that uses 9-11th a-g course grades in their SLO GPA calculation.

Middle school and 9th grade courses are used to fulfill the CSU a-g course requirements.

CPSLO also counts the number of semesters beyond the CSU minimum in various subjects (particularly math, but also language other than English), and apparently does not use CSU validation policy for this purpose, so be sure to include all high-school-level courses taken in middle school in the CSU application, even if their absence would otherwise be validated by higher level courses (e.g. validation of missing algebra 1 by completion of algebra 2).
