Calling all De Anza students!

I’m going to De Anza college next year…
I’m kinda nervous… I’ve been on campus a couple times and it seems kind of sketchy.
Sooo I was wondering… if you currently attend De Anza or have in the past,
How hard is it to make friends?
How are the professors? Nice? I might need rec letters from some of them in the future…
What do you suggest doing to get involved?
Parking? Signing up for classes?
Any insightful wisdom?
Much appreciated, thanks!

Join clubs and interest groups to make friends. Some classes have more socialization built into them and also are good places to meet friends - choir, acting/theatre, studio art, even foreign language classes.

Professors are the average mix of any community college (or four year) - some will be all business, others will end up being a great mentor, and a few might even turn into friendships after you leave and are no longer in a student/teacher relationship.

The way to get good rec letters is to excel in your classes, show enthusiasm, and go that extra 10% on your assignments. It’s not about being perfect or the class genius, it is about genuine curiosity combined with a drive to truly learn the materials.

If you want a pretty campus, try West Valley College - just 5 miles south.
