Two things: Boston will be even harsher winters than the locations she’s considering, and sh really, really wants to be able to take science classes with labs.
I know…there’s so many great schools and cities in red states-but those cities are still governed by legislatures that do not value women or Black people. It’s not a risk we’re willing to take in these times. We don’t have a false sense of security in blue states, but her rights are less under direct attack.
My musician kid just graduated from conservatory in Philly and has done some subbing at Temple (classical for the most part, but some gigs with the contemporary music program).
Just wanted to say he loves Philadelphia. It’s a great city for a college age kid with decent food and entertainment at low cost. He has had good experiences with the Temple students and faculty.
The other great thing about that part of the east coast is it is easy to hop on a bus or train for gigs. He plays in DC and Baltimore as well. His goal is to not need a car until at least the age of 30.
Denton and DFW area have a great music scene in general. UNT music students do not lack for opportunity to gig and perform in the area. My son was voice and cello. There were more opportunities than he could take.
We are very much looking forward to visiting next month! Especially for the food !
Just sent you a PM. Look for the little envelope icon in the top right corner of your screen.
Has she considered New School?
We spent 5 days in Oberlin and went to student performances. The student body was so supportive of each other. We felt very welcome.
