Ok so my parents want me to apply and, if I get in, go to a few Ivy League schools. However, I really don’t wanna go there and want to go to another school that is still good but not Ivy level. I was thinking, to ensure I don’t get into the Ivy schools, I could email or call the schools and ask them to reject me after I apply. Would that work? Do you guys have any other ideas to help sabotage my own application? Writing bad essays isn’t an option because my parents already said they’re gonna double check the essays themselves to make sure I didn’t BS them.
Over 90% of people that apply won’t get in - so I don’t think you should be up at night worrying about how NOT to get in to an Ivy League school. Also, many of them have already filled half of their incoming class already with early decision applicants.
If you truly want to sabotage your application, then yes, you could send a short email to a college asking them to reject you. It would work. If your parents found out they might might be a little unhappy.
If you’re old enough to go to college, then I think you should be old enough to have this conversation with your parents.
