Calling the procrastinating professor...

with dec 1st deadlines coming up i have the similar problem of having a professor procrastinating in sending in my letters. it was relieving to hear that it probably won’t be a big deal if they are late though.

However, when is a good time to call? The day before they are due?

Also, does anyone have any advice on what to say in the call (probably leaving a message)? They know the deadline and I’d rather not say anything stupid… is saying this is just i wasn’t sure if you received my emails so this is a friendly reminder that letters are due… sufficient?

Depends on the professor, but a polite call today is probably a good thing. Say you are calling to check on status; if she has written them then say “thanks,” if not, say “I know you are busy, and I really appreciate your help at this busy time in the term.”
