<p>Coaches at Caltech have minimal to no influence. My son was recruited by a coach who really wanted him (not for XC) and son had stats to make him competitive academically for Caltech. The coach told us he went up to admissions and talked to them when son was deferred from EA to RD. Son was eventually rejected in RD.</p>
<p>At this point, I am glad he’s not going there. I think he’s better off with a less intense and broader based school. So admissions was right in the end!</p>
