so here is a strange question. S applied to CALs - very qualified in terms of EC’s, but lower GPA and ACT than most who apply and certainly those who get accepted. Could not apply ED because of money. Any ideas if it acceptance is possible. GPA around 3.7 ACT 29.
@elise303 This would be an extreme reach for your S. The level of stats for accepted students this year is mind blowing. There are places where you can see a breakdown of SATs and GPAs for a typical accepted student at Cornell. By “very qualified” with ECs, what does that even mean? It would have to be something extraordinary in his ECs to make up for a good, but average, GPA. The ACT might be the Achilles heal. The low end of the spectrum is a 32. So unless he is a recruited athlete or has cured cancer, it’ll be tough. But nothing is impossible I guess.
ACT average is 32, GPA average is 4.03 – it’s a big reach for your S unless he has an amazing hook. He might be a better fit for Ithaca College if he likes the area. ACT 26, GPA 3.57
Hi! Would a 4/4 GPA and 2150 SAT be a reach or fit? Also, will CALS look at subject tests in Math 2 and Chemistry even though they’re not required? Thank you!
@KaleSeed You might want to start your own chance me thread. It’s sort of an unwritten rule not to hijack someone else’s thread. I’d be happy to give you my opinion if you start a new post.
