Rowed for two years

4 on AP world test

33 ACT

Just wanted to know my chances for getting into Cambridge thanks!

I’m afraid that Oxford and Cambridge, like the Ivies, are reaches for anyone.

Why not stay in Boston and go to Harvard like all of the Belmont Hill School rowers seem to do?

i couldn’t make it into harvard probably

do the UK universities accept lower GPAs because of the fact they are public overthere

Universities in the UK care most about AP scores when determining whether or not they are going to offer admission to American students.

so if i continue to get 4s and 5s on my AP tests… what are my chances

What seat are you in the boat indy123? I am a coxswain btw.

i row no longer

Oxbridge only accepts 5s on APs that are related to your intended field.

What about my chances at St Andrews Scotland?

Absolutely NO chance in heaven for you at Cambridge. For an American, getting into Cambridge is harder than getting into Harvard or MIT. Also, with your bad grades, I would bet my bottom dollar that you won’t even be invited for an interview.

Why do you want to go abroad so badly? I did once too, but then I realized how limiting it would be, as in the UK, you are pretty much confined to one field. It’s not a bad thing at all; it’s just something that wouldn’t be suitable for me.

Getting in is nearly impossible. The acceptance rate for international students is low, low, low, and your scores have not reached the rigorous standards of Cambridge. Understand that in the UK, they don’t care about ECs, sports, leadership at all. Academics first, applicant second. May be exaggerating a lot here, but you get the point. You need like 2400 on the SAT and 5s on all AP exams related to your declared major for them to even consider you.

Still, I wouldn’t completely discourage you from applying if it’s your dream school. What do you plan on majoring in?

Or, using Oxbridge parlance, what do you want to read?

Sadly, I agree with Zafar, for you getting into Cambridge is extremely difficult, harder than getting into Harvard or the other Ivies. I’ve ever only known one person accepted from my HS, and he ended up going to Princeton for Mathematics on a full ride.
