Camcorder

We’re getting a new grandchild so I want to buy my husband a camcorder for Christmas since he’s infamous for recording the kids when they were little. Much has changed since then so I need a quick summary of what I should look for.

I don’t want a really expensive one because he tends to lose or break things and because technology changes so fast I don’t need this to last until our great grandchildren. Just something decent and relatively easy to use. I’ve checked amaczon and costco and there are way too many choices.

What do they even record on these days? We saved ours to VHS. I’m assuming that’s out  I would like to be able to save them on cds that are easily played and copies and to be able to send links to friends and family. Am I dreaming?

There’s one on sale at Costco today which seems to be a really, really good price. I’m sure you guys will be able to quickly tell me what’s wrong with it:

[Canon HF R400 HD Camcorder Bundle](http://www.costco.com/Canon-HF-R400-HD-Camcorder-Bundle.product.100042449.html)

There’s also a Sony HDR CX380 on sale there for $319 but for some reason I can’t copy and paste that one. How much better is it and why?
