What’s it like, as in the night life/socializing/parties? Do you just go out with people in your residential college? What’s the drinking scene like and how accessible is it? I’m an incoming frosh, btw.

Camp Yale is AMAZING!!! The most fun that could possibly be had. There are parties going on basically every night. During the day, you’re pretty busy with a TON of meetings all the time. But nighttime is when you let lose. The frats in particular like to throw a lot of parties, in order to entice the freshmen to rush, but they can actually be a lot of fun. The drinking scene is EVERYWHERE. You will not have trouble trying to find it, trust me.

Most people form a group of friends almost immediately and they just stick with them for the beginning. These usually end up being who you socialize for the rest of the year and Yale career, but not necessarily. Make sure to find people you’re comfortable with and who share your own social habits.

Definitely enjoy Camp Yale to the fullest. I’m a rising sophomore and I’m so excited to experience Camp Yale not as a freshman. You might see me around a hot mess, ;)

lol… Camp Yale. Just don’t do what I did last year. :)

As DRBB says, lots of frat parties, but also lots of parties in suites in the residential colleges. Singing groups, improv comedy groups, etc. put on shows to entice freshman to become involved, so there are non-drinking activities.

One note: It’s OK not to drink at Yale. Most people in my group drank, but there were a couple who didn’t and no one cared. They still went to the parties and didn’t judge, and we didn’t judge right back.

^ True. I made all Yalies seem like alcoholics. Gryffon what did you do during Camp Yale?! Feel free to PM me if you don’t want to put it out there ;)

It’s literally a fun-fest in any way you can think of.

I completely back what Admissions Addict says about groups where some people drank and others didn’t. It seems that everyone is mature enough to respect those with different social habits.

One thing is that my group tended to be some high level athletes so I never saw casual drug/weed use. I’m sure it happened but I never saw it in my circle of friends. FYI

It seems like the OP is looking for a very social scene. Might be wrong. It’s definitely out there if you want it. PM me if you want to ask anything specific.

It’s fine that OP is looking for a very social scene. But if I can put my parent hat on: don’t get carried away and look out for your friends. Even kids with Yale intellects can still make unwise decisions. Alcohol poisonings occur – drug ODs occur. Students put themselves in bad situations. Date rape occurs. Fights occur.

Please keep even your partying in moderation and with some modicum of restraint.

^ Definitely. Did not intend otherwise…

Can I delete my post? :/

People who apply to Yale are…………………… I don’t like most but not all

creacher: can you clarify? What did you just say?
