Camps sponsored by universities?

I am considering attending some summer camps at universities I’m interested in, including Dartmouth and Stanford.

What I want to know, though, is if that will affect my chances at getting in to the schools that sponsor the camps. Will having academic-related camps at the school under my belt help my chances in any way?

not really. These camps are considered profit centers by the U’s- a way to bring in extra $$ by charging for the use of unused facilities during the summer. they do not impress the admissions reps any more than expensive “community service” camps in resort areas like Costa Rica, do.

The only way it affects those decisions is that it tells the admissions committee that you can afford to pay these expensive camps.

No. Most schools admit this readily on their website (not that it stops legions of kids and their parents from falling victim to that mentality). The exception would be if you really impressed a full-time professor who could vouch for you with the adcoms, but I imagine this is incredibly rare.
