Campus Community

I was wondering if USC is kind of like NYU. Is it an urban campus where people do their own thing and not really a traditional college experience? Cars seem to be really important and it appears to be like that people make a group of friends and kind of do their own thing. In addition, what are weekends like at USC? Is it kind of low key and a lot of people gone?

actually unlike NYU there is a campus to speak of… i can’t talk about it being a commuter campus but a large amount are from out of state it shouldn’t be too bad. Cars are important if you want to explore LA b/c La was established with cars in mind and public trasportation is very lacking. and during football season the weekends are prertty crazy i would imagine

they’re nothing alike! i visited nyu/columbia in the fall and usc last week. nyu has no campus. it’s campus is the city. there’s a more street-independent vibe to it. on the other hand, usc has a full campus. there’s a more laid-back feel and imo, a more community traditional college experience feel to it. whether a weekend or not, there’s still a ton of things to do. each specific college has their own list of events, individual clubs/orgs do too, each dorm does and not to mention the greek life…so going into town is simply another choice.
