Campus Transportaion

looking at the map, I noticed that most dorms (other than north/middle campus) are pretty far away from the buildings in which I might study. 2 questions:

 1. about the 4 southern dorms (morrison, craige, Hinton james, Ehring.), are they close to one another or is the map giving a wrong impression? is one of them sigficencely closer to the main campus than the rest or are they all with in a walking distance from each other?

are all the dorms listed above are with in a walking distance from the the main campus? or would I have to rely on campus transportation… and if so, how is the campus transportation?

thanks,

i know about the map your talking about Dan and yes that map isn’t that great. South Campus is a lot of closer than those maps give the impression of. I’d say there’s about a 10 minute walk from south campus to classes in north campus. Less depending on how fast you walk and so forth. The South Campus dorms are also close to each other to answer your question.
The farthest though is probably hinton james, thats like a 15 minute to north campus cause you got to cross the cross-roads intersection that seperates each o the 4 dorm communities. And you have to walk around the front of Hinton James North to get to the crosswalk.

o and to your second question, yes , everything is within walking distance. I had a bike, but I rarely used it and I usually didn’t bother with the bus, but there are busses. Don’t bother about the busses though because serously its all in walking distance and its not a long walk. The only time you might just want to take a bus is if you want to go to Franklin street and you feel lazy, or if its night then there’s the P2P.

what is the P2P

the P2P (Point to Point) is the night bus. It runs from like 7pm to early in the morning around campus everynight. From Franklin street to Granville Towers to north campus to south campus. Its also kinda called the drunk bus. Its fun to ride if your bored one night, its not like any bus ride u’ve been in before, its packed full with loud music playing. I’m a harry potter fan so whenever I ride it i like to imagine its like the night bus from harry potter as I hold on to a rail as we make sharp fast turns ;)

everything’s walking distance, sometimes it’s just a long walk… morrison was the closest to main campus (it’s being renovated next year though) and hinton james is the farthest away. some people take the bus from south campus to class, but i prefer to walk, even in the freezing cold! it just kind of becomes part of your routine =)
