I recently had an alumni interview; my interviewer recommended to visit the universities prior to march as it’d increase my chances of admission. Is that true? Also, is it too late now to schedule official visits?
Well, if you’re a senior, it’s a bit late. It MAY increase your odds at schools where interest is important, but not to the point it’d justify thousands of dollars coming from Germany.
I’m gonna fly to the US anyway, so visiting most of the colleges won’t be a problem.
You can look at each college’s common data set (google common data set XYZ college) and see if demonstrated interest is a factor. Even if colleges look at demonstrated interest, I think having an alumni interview is sufficient for an international student – schools don’t expect students to fly overseas for a visit. You may be better off waiting until you get your acceptances and visiting your top couple of choices.
You should wait till you have decisions and visit THEN, unless you have the time and money to visit twice in three months.
Alright, thanks!
