Can a Backstory be Multiple different Events?

This is in reference to the Common Application Prompt: Some students have a background or story that is so central to their identity that they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.

I couldn’t think of any one event that had made me who I am (and most of the other prompts ask for a specific incident too) but this just asks for a backstory. I am going to write about how I got my laptop and all the things that I did with it (youtube channel, game dev, programming) where each different event has its own paragraph. Since each event isn’t too related to the previous, the transitions are pretty much non-existent. I’ve addressed the fact that there was never a single thing that changed me in the last paragraph.

Would this answer the prompt and what could I do to add transitions? I’m already at the word limit so there’s no way I can add another paragraph. Possibly a sentence or two if I cut out some other stuff.

You could use your age of each event as a transition.

@TwoTravelin‌ Yeah. Right now I’m using dates. Like:
June 20, 2012. I was just about to upload my first video to YouTube …
March 16, 2013. 10th grade was over and I decided to start …

Something along those lines. I wasn’t sure if it would work as actual transitions but I’m hoping it does.

Be sure your essay is telling something personal about YOU that makes you someone the college would want on campus. A factual recitation of your technical skill development or discovering tech topics wouldn’t really give them what they are looking for.
