I’m a 17 year old Indian bodybuilder.I’m was the youngest competing bodybuilder in musclemania this year.Placed fourth.I sing tenor in church.I’m also pretty good in school.In the 10th grade state board exam I got the second mark in my school(492/500).Now I’m in 12th grade in a central board school(The only one Central board school in town).I went from school to school in search of better education but nowhere freedom is given for students to learn what interests them most and what they’re passionate about.Students are always forced to learn by rote.What all the schools here want is good scores.I also love building new things and designing circuits.I love math and physics.I want to study undergrad in USA.I live in a very remote place in India.This has made me less exposed to things.Next year I’m going to take an year off,move to a city,improve my english,get a job and hopefully learn a lot of new things.I also don’t come from a rich family.What are my chances of getting into the ivies?How much do I have to pay if I got in?
If this truly differentiates you from other applicants (especially other Asian males) then I’d say you have a good shot. Princeton gives the best aid in the US (according to various sources), so you should be fine with aid.
Good luck!
^^ Please don’t tell OP that he has a good shot when you haven’t seen any scores or academic achievements. What make you so sure that bodybuilding would be important to an Ivy League? Most of the Ivies accept only a few Indian students a year and the competition to get these spots is brutal.
Your chances are right around epsilon. I can’t imagine Ivies caring about bodybuilding over superb academics. This is an average EC really.
I think any EC you get involved with a achieve at a high level is good. But it is academics that will distinguish your application, yes. You have to realize that colleges that cover a lot of aid for international students are huge longshots. This really isn’t a ‘chances’ thread, you are asking for advice, so you should go to the Search and Selection forum or the Indian students forum.
I’m an A grade student.I scored 98% in my tenth grade and is hoping to score above 95 percent in my 12th grade.In our country they conduct proper exams only for 10th and 12th grade.I’m also planning on taking 5 APs.I’ve seen the AP syllabus and it seems pretty easy when compared to my high school syllabus.I can easily get a 5.I’ve also taken SAT once with no preparation and got a 1900(800 in math).That’s why I wanna improve my english.
@Wellington7 A 1900 SAT I puts you at roughly a 0% acceptance from india.
You need to hugely improve your SAT scores to even be considered. I would say 2300+.
