I am so tired of dealing with Rutgers. I’m ready to pick up my chips and go somewhere else. The reps I’ve talked to from Rowan, Montclair and Stockton have been incredibly helpful, and I might wait another semester and explore some out of state options. But I like Rutgers and that’s where my friends are, so I’m trying to get in for Fall semester.

But, of course…Rutgers is giving me a run around. First, I got ‘Spring 2010 Grades Requested’, you know, even though I have the same GPA as my friends who are admitted…but I mean, if your not good at math or science, apparently your useless to Rutgers. So I understandably feel like I’m being picked on and singled out. And then I get a nice email on April 1st:

Dear -----,

We are providing you with our decision on your application for admission to Rutgers University. We regret to have to tell you that we are unable to offer you admission to Rutgers.

This electronic message is not your official notification. You should be receiving an official letter from us in the mail shortly.

We understand that this is not the news you were hoping to hear from Rutgers. Given our very large and competitive applicant pool, it is not possible to offer admission to all candidates who would benefit from a Rutgers education. If you would like information about transferring to the university after freshman year, please visit: [Rutgers: Office of Undergraduate Education - Transfer Students](<a href=“Office of the Chancellor | Rutgers-New Brunswick”>Office of the Chancellor | Rutgers-New Brunswick). We wish you the best.

Uh, okay…my online status still says 'Spring 2010 Grades Requested". I got a letter saying Spring Grades Requested! So what’s the deal Rutgers? But of course…a week or so later, I get this

Dear -------,

By now, I assume that you are wondering why you have not received your letter in the mail. This is because April 1st is one of my favorites in the year and I had to send an email to you. Your real decision will come in May. I wish you the best of luck.

Sincerely,

I really don’t think this is legitimate, but I’m hoping someone would give me there two cents on it. Rutgers is giving me an incredible run around and I’m getting more ticked off the more people I talk to there. The only reason I haven’t given up on them is that all my friends recommend it as a great place to go. I feel like I’m being jerked around, I’d like to have a talk with someone down there tommorrow.

So what do you guys think about this April Fools ‘joke’? Am I right to be mad and think this is a BS excuse for a joke and completely unethical and wrong to joke around with someone’s future? Any feedback would be great. Thanks!
