Can a current NU student recommend an applicant?

I forget where I heard this from, but when someone found out that my friend is applying to NU this year, they told me that as a current student, if I told admissions that I recommend the person that that could influence their decision.

Is there any truth to this?

My friend is applying to the nursing program, and may or may not have the #s she needs to prove that she’d be a good choice, but she’s very impressive in other areas that I fear may not be shown on her application.

I know that if you speak to admissions counselors and recommend a person, you should almost DEFINITELY know the admissions counselor first. If they don’t know you, why should they trust you?

^That does make a lot of sense. How does one get to know an admissions counselor?

I know all of them at my school b/c I work here, but I mean, you could totally visit or invite them out for coffee b/c you think they’re so hilarious or entertaining or whatnot lol.
