Can a few Points make the difference?

“How big a difference can a number like 100 points make?
For the University of California, given our eligibility construct, it can make a big difference. It can make a difference between whether a student is eligible or not eligible. Any difference in scores can make a difference in a student’s eligibility for UC.” -From Interview …

To all you students wondering … should I retake? but notice … it says ELIGIBILITY

i’m also wondering this

Yes, a few points can make a big difference. To figure out how much of a difference a few points might make, look at scores for last year’s admits to the colleges/universities that you’re applying to. If, for example, your scores are right around the lower 25% or admits, a few points might push you out of a dangerous score range into a middle score range and dramatically increase your chances. If you’re already in their top 25% range, a few more points probably won’t matter for most school.

^How can i see what you are talking about. It doesn’t say anywhere. I am talking about UPENN btw. Please help.

100 points is definitely enough to make a difference.

100 points isn’t a few points. a few points (10-50ish) won’t make a difference, but 100 definitely will be a big difference.

Especially since your math and verbal scores are based on a sixty point range and your writing apparently on an eighty point range, somewhere around 50pts or less shouldn’t be significant, but 100 is surely a deciding factor.
