Can a high school freshman take the PSAT?

<p>Just for practice? Is there an age requirement to be able to register? I have read the material on the collegeboard website and I cannot find any reference to eligibility by age. It does say you have to register through your school. Would a student’s school likely be opposed to a student taking the PSAT early for practice? Thanks.</p>

<p>Also, is the PSAT like the SAT in that all sittings are reported every time a school gets your results? Will taking it early somehow jeopardize later possible attainment of NMF status? Any help appreciated.</p>

<p>I know middle school students who have taken it just for practice. Just ask your son’s guidance counselor. If for some reason the GC gives you any flack, just check out another hs in your district or a private school in your area.</p>

<p>Practice tests have no baring on NMF status. Test results are mailed directly to the school and not to students or parents.</p>

<p>Yup. You can take it as a high school freshman…you just need to ask the guidance counselor if you can take it. </p>

<p>If he/she won’t let you, then take it somewhere else, like another high school in the area.</p>

<p>If, for some reason, you can’t take it at a high school, there are practice tests available that you can take for free…just search around, online or at the library, or at nearby testing centers…</p>

<p>don’t waste your time and money, unless you have time and money to waste. you do not need to take the PSAT 3 times…take it sophmore year.</p>

<p>What’s the point? It won’t count, and practice can be found anywhere in booklets and publications for less than what the test costs.</p>
