Can a non-MIT student attend MIT lectures?

Can a university student in the Boston area attend MIT lectures or special events? Or is it pretty exclusive? I am not from a city with a lot of Universities in one area, so I do not know how it works. At the University where I am from, if there is a lecture going on, pretty much anyone can come in without notice. Thanks for any help.

Oh, absolutely – for lectures, people can and do attend from all over the place.

Sometimes a lecture series or special event may require registration, but these are not generally restricted to MIT affiliates; I go to Harvard now and I’ve registered to attend many MIT events.

That’s nice to know. There is so much, academic wise, in Boston. It would be a shame for a University to be so exclusive.

I used to go to concerts and LAC movies all the time.

I don’t know about live lectures but you can watch MIT lectures on OpenCourseWare - ocw.mit.edu
