I’m applying at various places around town for a job, however I’m new to the whole resume thing. Is any parent here on CC willing to look over it for me? I’ve applied at places like Target, Old Navy, GAP, Kroger, Food Lion, and Foot Locker.

sure. I will be happy to. When you write resume follow these simple rules. It should be visually appealing - have lots of white. It should only be one page. Use simple font like Times new Roman with a size of 12. If you need more room, play with the margins and font size.

I am assuming you are applying for summer jobs. Don’t the places you have listed have their own online methods?

Hi - I work in workforce development. I often recommend About.com. Check out their resume and cover letter samples. This will give you an idea on how others have written their resumes. They also have articles that offer advice on the type of resume to choose. There are resume templates you can use on Microsoft Word, if formatting is a concern. Good luck!
