The student studied for the Sept ACT test but did not have time to practice or look at SAT/PSAT material, unfortunately.
11th grader, scored very high on ACT. Thoughts on whether the ACT prep could make a difference?

DS 19 took the PSAT in mid October and the ACT two weeks later. He prepped for the ACT only and scored very high. He also scored high enough on the PSAT to make NMSF (in a state with a 221 cut-off). Maybe the ACT prep helped some for the PSAT, but for the most part, it probably just came down to him being good at standardized tests.
Math is math. Reading/English/writing/etc., same.
They may not be precisely the same format, but studying for one will certainly help the other.
I believe it will. My daughter hasn’t taken the official PSAT-NMSQ yet (or the official ACT), but she has been prepping for the October ACT for awhile.
She decided to take a practice PSAT before the test this Saturday and her score was much higher than her PSAT 10 (taken with no prep). It was a big difference - 1270 (PSAT 10) to 1460 (Practice PSAT NMSQ)
Your replies are really great to hear. Maybe there is hope that the PSAT score is higher than anticipated.
Congratulations to those who tested already and good luck to those taking their PSAT/ACT/SAT tests in the near future!

Sorry, system is glitching.
My kids have said that they think ACT is more straightforward but you have to move more quickly, and PSAT/SAT gives you more time but tries to trick you.
