can an asian/caucasian mix get in with a D and 2 C's?

since usc is heavily populated by the asian race, i don’t think i have a good chance of getting in, but i really want to b/c usc has my dream school! ANNENBERG!!!

but anyways, i completely, completely FFFFFFF’d up my junior year. my parents were getting a divorce and i was taking care of my sister, so school kind of got put on the backburner. my freshman/sophomore year, i got great grades: 3.9 UW!! then, i got a D in calculus and Cs in ap u.s. history and ap stats. and i have an ok SAT score of: 1940/2400. cr=630, m=660, w=650. do i have ANY chance of getting admitted???

Being Asian will not affect your application.

Your hardship could help you if you are able to put it together with your interests, passions, and activities in your essay in an enticing way.

Your GPA is obviously going to be a problem but if it is your dream school, go ahead and apply because you never know. Here is the latest freshman profile to compare your grades and test scores:

Don’t discount the idea of a transfer. Take a year or two to get your life in order at a community college and apply as a transfer student. Your dream can come true.

Good luck.

I think if you can pull it together senior year you have a chance. (not sure how big that chance is) they DO look at first semester senior year…
but even if not, yes transferring is VERY possible, as long as from now on you get back on track

thanks guys.

The admissions officers look at Junior year grades most heavily. Senior year might not even count for the admissions process because I was never asked to send in Midyear Grades (the grades from 1st semester of senior year).

Like CC41 said, don’t discount the thought of transferring. A LOT of students transferred in this year…

I believe there’s also the special circumstances section of the application where you explain your sob story and how it affected your academics AND how the rough times inspired you to strive much harder to do well in the future.

yeah, i know, but even if i explain how i f’d up, would it still matter?? i’m so ****ed at myself right now
