Last month I was deferred from my number one choice, and I am writing a letter to express my continued interest in that school. I was wondering If anyone of you parents, who have been here for a long time and can be trusted will read my letter.

bump, can anybody help?

I suggest you wait a bit. Early February is when it counts. Waiting may help, because you’d have more up-to-date information about what’s new. You might also explore the college admission practices, if you can. Some colleges, for example, care a lot about grades, while others care about scores. Some weight the recs higher than others. If you learn what counts and if that area of your profile can/has improved, then emphasize it in your letter. It’s totally okay to personalize this letter as much as you can. It will show how much you care.

Nonetheless, the chances of getting accepted after getting a deferral is extremely low, so don’t get your hopes up. Focus on your other choices.

^Even at Northeastern?

If I recall correctly, Northeastern values on-campus visits.

Run your draft letter by the GC. If you had tough classes and good grades this fall, make sure you emphasize that.

My son found NU’s admission office very easy to work with. I encourage you to send them an email expressing that NU remains your first choice. Then send another email after grades come out or if you win an award, etc.

Best of luck to you.
