Can anyone chance me?

Hello,

I am currently in the process of finishing summer school at East Los Angeles College, and will be applying for transfer this coming November. As of right now, I am in a solid position to fulfill the requirements for the TAG (Transfer Admission Guarantee) program, of which, I plan to tag UC Davis.

Essentially, my transfer schools (as of now) are as follows : UCLA (Goal), UCB, UCSD,

My stats :

Philosophy Major

43 total units. -> 48 [15 units will be non-transferable remedial math] units by the end of my summer session because of a remedial math course I am currently taking.

Overall GPA : 3.93 (includes 2 remedial math courses [10 units]). Also, my current remedial math course is the final remedial math course that I will be taking, as I will be taking transferable math during my Fall semester.

Transferable UC GPA : 3.9090 (33 units)

Major GPA (regarding UCLA transfer reqs, and major prep) : 4 Philosophy classes - 4.0 ; only 3/4 major prep reqs completed for UCLA. Hoping to be able to enroll in an online course that’ll satisfy my final req this fall (currently waitlisted).
The 4 courses I’ve taken are : Ethics, Deductive Logic (Symbolic Logic), Logic in Practice, and Introduction to Philosophy.

For fall, I will be taking 3 Honors Classes ( Astronomy, Biology, and Chicano Studies), as well as a transferable math course, and 2 Philosophy classes (History of Greek Philosophy, and Bioethics). However, I may potentially be taking another philosophy course, granted that I am taken off the wait-list and officially enrolled within my final major prep course.

I am currently struggling within my math course, so I believe that I am leaning more towards a final “B” grade, than an “A”. In any case, I have read that remedial courses are not supposed to tamper with your admissions as they emphasize solely the transferable-UC GPA.

My IGETC will be done in fall once I complete my science, and math requirements. Also, I got the foreign language requirement fulfilled by an AP score of 3 in Spanish Language during High School.

Extra-Curriculars :

Honors program (apart of the academic program, however, I have not necessarily done anything besides get admitted into it.),

Peer counselor, Tutor, Philosophy Club (will be joining in the beginning of Fall), as well as hobbies, such as soccer, weightlifting, wrestling, etc.

However, I do not want to emphasize sports, as I do not believe that the way I participate in them makes them standout, as they are hobbies above all.

Awards :

Full-Time Dean’s Honor list for Fall 2016.

Should be getting the same award for Spring 2017 (hasn’t arrived yet).

I got a 1K scholarship during my spring semester.
–Don’t know what else to put…

Other talking points/ areas of my life, and of me :

Worked full-time during my first semester at a liquor store.

Eventually left to become a financial representative for an insurance company (got certified, then quit.).

Worked to help sustain my family (household makes less than 14k).

Have been full-time since the beginning of my fall semester.

Will be completing the honors program curriculum during my remaining winter, and spring course (5 total honors classes).

I will also be taking additional philosophy courses during my remaining 2 semesters to supplement my knowledge.

Student of color.

Low-income.

— Essentially, since it does happen to be the case that remedial courses are said to not affect admission GPA, then the GPA of my transfer application should be that of 3.9090, right? Regardless of the grade I receive during this summer session for remedial math.

—Will the idea of finishing the honors program curriculum during my remaining semesters be of any help for me? Or do they only the admissions only genuinely consider those who have already fulfill the requirements by the time of application?

— I have not begun my personal insight questions, but I do believe that it will be a strong point within my application.

Many thanks!
